Read Guide →What Is the 1PAX Graduate Fellowship?
The 1PAX Graduate Fellowship is designed for recent architecture graduates and final-year architecture students who want international professional experience.
Fellows will work remotely with 1PAX teams on real projects related to aviation, transportation, urban development, and mobility infrastructure. They will also receive professional mentorship and work with people from different countries and disciplines.
Unlike a standard internship, the fellowship also includes an independent research project. Each fellow will choose a research topic related to architecture and mobility and develop it with guidance from an experienced researcher.
Fellowship Benefits
The 2026 fellowship provides:
- A paid six-month fellowship
- Fully remote participation
- Experience on real international projects
- Professional mentorship
- International and multidisciplinary collaboration
- Development of an independent research project
- A paid visit to the 1PAX office in Paris
- Flights and accommodation for the Paris visit
- Portfolio and professional skill development
The fellowship is paid, but the official page does not publish a specific salary amount. It states that remuneration corresponds to the salary level of a young architect in France.
The fellowship does not guarantee a permanent job. However, outstanding fellows may be considered for future opportunities depending on their performance and 1PAX’s business needs.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must meet the following main requirements:
- Be a recent Architecture graduate or final-year Architecture student
- Be studying or have graduated from a public or private university
- Be 20 to 28 years old when the fellowship begins
- Have strong design potential and a strong portfolio
- Have professional proficiency in English
- Be available from October 15, 2026
- Be able to work effectively in an international remote team
- Have a genuine interest in transportation, cities, infrastructure, and mobility challenges
Applications are open worldwide. Citizenship or long-term residence is collected as part of the application information but does not exclude applicants based on country or territory.
English Language Requirement
Applicants need professional proficiency in English.
The official requirements do not state that applicants must submit IELTS or TOEFL. Applicants should therefore follow the English information requested in the online application rather than assuming a particular test certificate is required.
Required Application Materials
Applicants need to prepare:
- CV/Resume: An updated summary of education, experience, skills, achievements, and relevant activities.
- Portfolio: Academic, professional, or personal design work submitted as a file or portfolio link.
- Recommendation Letter: One recommendation letter is required. A second letter is optional but strongly recommended.
- Motivation: Applicants must explain their interest in the fellowship, their interest in mobility, what they want to learn, and how the fellowship supports their development.
The application form also asks for personal and educational information, languages, relevant skills, experience, projects, availability, and mobility-related interests.
How to Apply
Applications are submitted through the online 1PAX Graduate Fellowship application form.
Start by uploading your CV and review any information added to the form. Complete your candidate profile, education and fellowship information, skills and relevant experience.
Next, provide your portfolio, recommendation letter, and motivation information. Review the application terms, accept the required data-processing conditions, and submit the complete application before the deadline.
Applicants with large portfolios can provide a portfolio link instead of uploading a large file.
Selection Process
The selection process has four main stages:
Application: Complete applications must be submitted by September 30, 2026 at 11:59:59 PM Europe/Paris.
Interviews: Around 10 candidates are expected to be shortlisted for interviews, which will take place until October 6, 2026.
Final Selection: Two fellows will be selected, with results scheduled for October 9, 2026.
Fellowship Start: The six-month program begins on October 15, 2026.
The selection committee evaluates candidates based on areas including their portfolio, motivation, design potential, and potential contribution to the future of architecture.
Important Points for Applicants
A strong portfolio is an important part of this application. Applicants should select work that clearly shows how they think, solve design problems, and communicate ideas.
The fellowship also has a serious research component. Candidates should be ready to explore an independent question connecting architecture with mobility rather than treating the program only as professional work experience.
Because only two fellows will be selected worldwide, applicants should make their motivation and interest in mobility clear and specific.
