How to prepare a research plan for the MEXT Japan Scholarship
A research plan is a very important document for the MEXT Scholarship in Japan. It shows what you want to study, why you want to study it, and how you will do your research.
Write your past study
First, write about your education. What subject did you study before? What skills did you learn? What experience do you have?
Example: I studied Computer Science. I learned programming, networking, and databases. I also worked in IT support and data entry jobs.
Choose your research topic
Now choose a clear research topic. Your topic should be simple, related to your field, and solve a real problem.
Example: Online Learning System for Remote Areas of Afghanistan
Write the problem
Explain the problem you want to solve. What is the issue? Why is it important?
Example: In rural areas of Afghanistan, students do not have good internet and cannot access online education.
Write your goal
What do you want to achieve?
Example: I want to improve access to education for students in remote areas.
Explain your method
How will you do your research? You can write surveys, interviews, system design, and testing.
Describe your system
If your topic is technical, explain web or mobile app, database, AI tools, and offline system.
Write expected results
What will happen after your research? Example: A better learning system for students in rural areas.
Write your future plan
Explain your future goals. What will you do after Japan? How will you help your country?
Example: I will return to Afghanistan and improve education using technology.
Final tip
Your research plan should be very simple, clear, realistic, and connected to real problems in your country.
