Scholarship Benefits

The Global Excellence Scholarship reduces tuition fees for the normal full-time duration of an eligible course, as stated in the student’s offer letter.

The discount depends on academic performance.

Study Level	Academic Requirement	Tuition Discount
Undergraduate	Equivalent ATAR 85–89.95	10%
Undergraduate	Equivalent ATAR 90 or higher	20%
Postgraduate	Equivalent WAM 65–74.99	10%
Postgraduate	Equivalent WAM 75 or higher	20%

ATAR is an Australian university admission ranking. WAM means Weighted Average Mark, a measure of academic performance.

Students with international qualifications do not need to calculate their own Australian scores. UWA assesses their academic results and determines the equivalent ranking.

Important: This is a partial tuition scholarship, not a fully funded scholarship. Accommodation, living expenses, airfare and visa costs are not listed as benefits.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must meet the following conditions:

Be an international student.
Receive an offer for an eligible UWA undergraduate or postgraduate course starting in 2027.
Meet the minimum academic results required for the scholarship.
Satisfy the admission requirements of their selected course.

The scholarship also covers eligible combined Bachelor’s degrees and combined Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes.

However, some programmes are excluded.

Undergraduate exclusions:

Assured Pathway to Medicine
Assured Pathway to Dental Medicine

Postgraduate exclusions:

Juris Doctor
Doctor of Medicine
Doctor of Dental Medicine
Doctor of Optometry
UWA Micro-credentials

Applicants should check the eligibility of their intended course before submitting an admission application.

English Language Requirements

Applicants must meet the English language entry requirements of their chosen UWA course.

The Global Excellence Scholarship does not publish a separate IELTS or TOEFL score requirement.

English test scores and accepted alternatives depend on the degree programme. Students should check their course requirements rather than assume that IELTS is unnecessary.

Required Documents

There is no separate scholarship document submission. International applicants applying for admission generally need:

Academic results or transcripts
English language test results
Passport copy
Additional documents required for their selected course

Final academic transcripts are particularly important because UWA uses them to assess scholarship eligibility.

Applicants who have not received their final results may still be considered for conditional university admission. However, the scholarship assessment normally takes place after final transcripts are submitted.
